Case Study: Award for Academic Achievement

The real surprise, however, came when he obtained four distinctions on his report in the first exam. Every following quarter his marks would continue to improve. At the end of the school year he passed with an aggregate of 84% and received an award for academic achievement.
Ivan

Ivan Dunn from Randfontein, South Africa, had difficulty with reading fluency. He reversed b’s and d’s, had to sound out nearly every word before he could read it and often lost his place. As a result, his school marks were poor.

Ivan started with Audiblox group classes in August 2000, when he was in Grade 3. He attended two Audiblox classes per week of one hour each. Ivan’s mother, Mrs. G. M. Dunn, reports:

“After three months Ivan’s reading had improved a lot, as well as his concentration. In the final exam (Nov. ’00) he received a certificate for life skills. The real surprise, however, came in 2001 when he obtained four distinctions on his report in the first exam (March ’01). Every following quarter his marks would continue to improve. At the end of the school year (Nov. ’01), he passed with an aggregate of 84% and received an award for academic achievement.”
