My son went to a remedial school for 3 years and I could not see much progress, despite occupational therapy (once a week for 30 minutes). The school finally prescribed Ritalin and as I’m against any drugs I was very unhappy about this. I then came across a book The Truth About Learning Disabilities by Susan du Plesssis and what I read made so much sense to me. The main idea is that a human being can only learn what is taught to him and that concentration is not something you are born with but you have to learn it. I contacted Dr Jan Strydom and subsequently subscribed to the program.
Audiblox is a holistic program, developing the perceptual level where these children have problems. It also develops short- and the long term memory. I also realized that one has to stick to the given program in the manual. My son’s reading and writing have improved a lot. What normal OT did not achieve in 3 years the Audiblox achieved in 6 months. Through the Audiblox program I also met 2 other mothers and I could see the improvement in their sons.
I also would advice you to, once you decided to work with the Audiblox, to stay in close contact with the Audiblox centre via email.
