Subject: RE: Final count down – Ciara Heidtmann
Dear Monique,
My apologies for not responding sooner. I am afraid I have had family issues to attend to and have not really been able to comply with your requests…I have however been wanting to write to you for some time now, but never seemed to find the time.
Because of the emotional upheaval in Ciara’s life especially at such an early age and her ADD issues, it was decided at the end of 2015, not to “pressurise” her too much for fear of steering her in the “wrong direction” should she not succeed but rather put her in what is known as the “Good Class” at Delta Park School in 2016 for 2 years, where after she would go to a vocational school at the beginning of her 13th year. In essence this meant that she would no longer obtain a mainstream education. I met with the Good Class teacher and a Grade 4 teacher to ascertain whether she would be able to cope with the volume of work and in turn keep up with the rest of the class due to her comprehension, retention and cognitive issues.
I wrestled with my decision during the Christmas holidays last year, knowing that Ciara was enjoying EDUBLOX and that she and the teachers were working very hard at improving her reading, memory and retention abilities. Based on this I changed my mind on the first day of school this year and decided that she be given a chance in mainstream Grade 4, with a view to reversing the decision should she not cope.
I am so pleased to be able to send you Ciara’s report which reflects her marks for the 3 x terms of the 2016 school year. You will see how well she has done over this past year. This I have no doubt is due in part to her school teacher, therapists and definitely EDUBLOX who have helped Ciara gain such confidence in her own ability to succeed and therefore achieve. She now competes with herself and sets goals each term, to exceed the previous terms marks. This confidence is also visible in her sporting activities. She has received 2 merit badges at school and wears them proudly. Her goals are to become a monitor (prefect) in Grade 7 and the captain of the girls soccer team!
Ciara clearly has a good rapport with the EDUBLOX teachers and through their guidance and teaching of the EDUBLOX programme she is continually developing into a child who is always willing to try and go the extra mile. She now learns without the application of too much pressure, albeit still with assistance for certain subjects.
Ciara has put in a huge effort this year and has proved to herself that she has the ability to achieve and in some case has exceeded, to her great delight, the class average.
To say that I am proud of Ciara’s achievement and hard work this year is a huge understatement and I am extremely grateful that Ciara was given the chance to prove that she is capable of great things!
Although Ciara still has a way to go, I believe she is well on her way to reaching for the stars! I cannot thank the teachers of EDUBLOX enough for the help they have given Ciara and would highly recommend that any parent who is concerned about their child’s ability to learn, that they research the EDUBLOX programme. It can only benefit their child!
Once again Monique, I thank you for all the help you and your team have given Ciara.
Kind regards,
Wendy Regnani
