“I am incredibly proud of him, not just for his achievements but for his strength in the face of adversity. Thank you for fostering an environment that allows students like him to flourish. Your support has helped him believe in himself; I am eternally grateful for that,” wrote Tanya, Clayton’s mom.
Clayton’s mom tells his story:
Clayton has faced significant challenges over the past year. Struggling with dyslexia and Irlen syndrome have made academic tasks daunting, but his determination and resilience truly shine through. In addition to navigating his learning difficulties, Clayton has also experienced the profound loss of his father. This has undoubtedly been a heavy burden for him, yet it has also fuelled his determination to succeed.
Despite these hardships, Clayton’s hard work, dedication, and unwavering support from his tutor, Marina, at Edublox Potchefstroom made a significant difference. It’s heartening to see how Edublox has rallied around him, providing encouragement and understanding that has made a significant difference in his life. Clayton has learned to advocate for himself, embracing his unique learning style and demonstrating that challenges can be transformed into opportunities for growth.
I am incredibly proud of him, not just for his achievements but for his strength in the face of adversity. Thank you for fostering an environment that allows students like him to flourish. Your support has helped him believe in himself; I am eternally grateful for that.
As a parent, witnessing my son struggle in school has been heartbreaking and enlightening. From an early age, it became clear that he faced challenges beyond the typical learning hurdles many kids encounter. While his peers progressed with reading and writing, my son experienced frustration and confusion.
Dyslexia isn’t just about reversing letters or mixing up sounds; it’s a complex learning difference that affects his ability to decode words, comprehend text, and express his thoughts in writing. Homework that should take him an hour often stretches into three, filled with tears and feelings of inadequacy. He’s intelligent and curious, but the conventional teaching methods frequently leave him feeling isolated and defeated.
What has been most disheartening is the lack of understanding from some educators. While many teachers have been supportive and accommodating, some still don’t fully grasp the unique challenges dyslexic students face. This has sometimes led to his efforts being dismissed or misunderstood, which can be discouraging for a young mind trying its best.
However, there have also been bright spots. With the right support we found at Edublox, Clayton has shown remarkable resilience. He benefits from individualised instruction, assistive technology, and the understanding approach of his teacher, who recognises his potential. When given the tools and strategies tailored to his learning style, he flourishes, demonstrating that dyslexia doesn’t define his intelligence or capabilities.
I share this testimony not just to highlight the struggles but to emphasize the importance of support, patience, and advocacy. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn in a way that allows them to succeed, and together, we can make that a reality.
From the moment we began working with Edublox, I felt a sense of hope and relief. Their approach is comprehensive and tailored to meet Clayton’s unique needs. The team at Edublox truly understands dyslexia and has provided him with the tools and strategies that have significantly impacted his learning journey.
Clayton has become more confident and engaged in his education. The personalised attention and supportive environment have allowed him to thrive. Seeing him tackle reading and writing with newfound enthusiasm is incredible, transforming his frustration into a sense of accomplishment.
I am immensely grateful to Edublox for their dedication and expertise. They have helped Clayton improve his skills and instilled in him the belief that he can succeed despite his challenges. As a mother, nothing is more rewarding than seeing your child flourish.
Thank you, Edublox, for being such an important part of our journey. Your commitment to helping children with dyslexia truly changes lives.
Tanya Philpott.
